Waves Effect


This tutorial will show you how to make awesome waves that you might often see in site layouts. Read to do it!



What you need


Photoshop CS (or version 2 or three or Photoshop 7 or higher or lower)
A good knowledge of Photoshop
You!



Steps


1- Open your new file in Photoshop. Color the background. Make a new layer and Select the "Polygonal Lasso Tool" (it's under the rectangle marquee tool). Make a triangle on the side at the edge of the page, then fill it with a color. This is what it's supposed to look like:



2- Next, go filter --> Distort --> Wave. A box will pop up, set the things below:
Number Of Generators: 4
Wavelength Min: 1
Wavelength Maximum: 169
Amplitude Min: 6
Amplitude Max: 48
Scale Horizontal: 100
Scale Vertical: 88
Click Ok and it should look like this:



3- Right click the wave layer and click "Blending Options" Select Bevel and Emboss and follow below:
Style: Inner Bevel
Technique: Smooth
Depth: Change as much as you want
Direction: Up
Size: Change as much as you want
Soften: Change as much as you want
Shading Angle: 90 degrees
Change all Opacity in shading to 100 degrees
Finally, click ok. Then, you can duplicate the layer to make cooler designs.
