Setting Up A Site Contest
Everyone likes contests, and its a great way to attract visitor's attention and to gain some fun activity around your site. There are many types of contests you can hold, and this tutorial will teach you how to pick the perfect one for your site!
It Has to Relate to your Site
You wouldn't hold a gaming contest at a graphics site, would you? Maybe you would, but that would attract the wrong type of visitors to your site that might critique your site's content in
a bad way. Here are a few things to remember when setting up your own contest:
- It has to relate to your site somehow. An example is that if you have a graphics site, make a designing contest or such.
- Never go over your subject.
Visitors of your site want to enter into contests that relate to them after all.
Make it clear
Your contest information and rules has to be clear for your visitors. Making a designing contest for example and just stating "Its a design contest" does not really supple your
visitors and contestants with much information. Here are a few things you have to remember to add in your contest information:
- Write the deadline of your contest, no one wants to enter a contest that never ends.
- State the rules clearly.
- Supply your visitor with a contact e-mail or such so that they can ask you questions if they have any.
- Have a theme, it can help your visitors and contestants know more about what you want from them.
- If its necessary, list everything in the end in bullet form.
Remember, make everything clear for your visitors!
Get them interested
Get them interested with a prize! You could make 3 awards, 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, or you could make special awards (example: brightest, happiest, most detailed, etc.) That
should make your visitors want to enter your contest!
Here are a few things you could offer as a prize:
- A design or graphic
- Site Content
- Free Hosting
- A domain
- Affiliation position
- Or anything you can think of!
Remember to make the prize interesting!
Get more people to know!
Let the contestants advertise your contest with a banner so that other people are informed, and so they also can enter, giving you more entries to chose from.
Have Judges
Don't just judge the contest alone, get some friends to help you judge it too! No one wants only one opinion to be the judge ;D
